今回は新しくFirst Classの一員になってくれたCath(キャス)先生の紹介をしたいと思います。
Could you please introduce yourself?

My name is Mary Cathleen Huerbana.
You can call me ‘Cath’ for short.
I graduated from the University of San Carlos with a degree of education major in special education.
I’ve been teaching for almost a year now.
(私の名前はマリー・キャサリーン・ハーバナです。
短縮して「キャス」と呼んで下さい。
サン・カルロス大学の特別教育学部 学士課程を卒業しました。
英語は1年程教えています。)
What are your hobbies?
(趣味はなんですか？)
I love to read books, surf the net and I love to travel to explore new places and to have an adventure.
(読書、ネットサーフ、行った事ない場所に旅行して散策する事が好きです。)
When is your birthday?
(誕生日はいつですか？)
I was born on the 4th of November.
(11月4日に生まれました。)
What is your favorite color?Why?
(好きな色は何ですか？また、なぜですか？)
My favorite color is blue because it makes me relax and blue is the color of the sky and sea.
It also symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, and confidence.
(好きな色は青です。空や海の色でもありますし、リラックスさせてくれる色です。
信頼、忠誠、知恵、自信などを象徴する色でもあります。)
Where is the place to visit in Cebu that you’d recommend?
(セブ島でおススメの場所はどこですか？)
The place that I can recommend upon visiting here in Cebu is Badian, because of the Kawasan falls and also you can try Canyoneering.
(セブ島で是非 訪れて欲しい場所はバディアンです。
カワサンの滝があり、峡谷探検が出来ます。)
What is your favorite native Filipino food?
(好きなフィリピン料理はなんですか？)
There’s a lot of native Filipino foods that are delicious but my favorite native Filipino food is ‘Utan Bisaya’.
Utan Bisaya is a mix of Vegetables such as squash,malunggay, eggplant, and other Filipino grown vegetables.
Ladies’ fingers (Okra) is what I really love among the enumerated vegetables because of the stickiness that I can feel when I swallow it.
(美味しいフィリピンの伝統料理は沢山ありますが、中でも「ウタン・ビサヤ」という料理が好きです。
かぼちゃ、マルンガイ（ワサビノキ）、ナスなどのフィリピン現産の野菜を使った料理です。
野菜の中ではオクラが一番好きです。モチモチした喉ごしが好きです。)
How do you describe your personality?
(自分はどんな性格だと思いますか？)
I am a very friendly person and very approachable so if you need any help I’m just here for you.
(私はフレンドリーで気さくな人間ですので、何か困った事があれば気軽にお声掛けください。)
What do you want to become in another life?
(生まれ変わったら何になりたいですか？)
If given another chance in another life I would like to be a policewoman.
It’s my dream since I was Kid.
(もし生まれ変わった、警察官になってみたいです。
子供の時から憧れがあります。)
What inspired you to become a teacher?
(講師になろうと思ったきっかけはなんですか？)
What inspired me to become a teacher is my mentor/professor way back in high school because she instilled in me that teaching is not just a job but a noble profession.
Seeing your students grow and achieve their dreams is a fulfilling feeling for you as a teacher.
(講師になりたいと思った気かけは、高校時代の恩師の影響です。
人に物を教えるという事は単なる仕事ではなく、崇高な専門職であるという考えが、自分の中で生まれました。
生徒が成長し目標を達成するのを見る事は、講師としてとても誇りに思える瞬間です。)
What made you decide to work at FCI?
(First Classで働こうと思った理由は何ですか？)
What made me decide to work in FCI is the positive working environment and supportive management and friendly colleagues.
(ファーストクラスで働きたいと思った動機は、ポジティブな社風と献身的なサポートスタッフ、そしてフレンドリーな同僚達が居たからです。)
Is there something that you keep in mind when you teach students English language?
(英語を教える時に気をつけていることはなんですか？)
The one fundamental thing that’s always in my mind when I teach students the English language is that I need to give my very best so that I would be able to help them learn the language.
(英語を教える上で必ず心がけている事は、生徒の学びを実現する為、授業の準備も含め、全力を注ぐことです。)
